The Sunraysia Cricket Association has passed on its condolences to the loved ones of a South Australian cricket player who passed away while playing in extreme heat.
The Old Concordians player was in his 40s and suffered a medical episode during a match on Saturday afternoon with temps hitting 41 degrees.
The Sunraysia association has strict heat restrictions, reminding players that although it’s disappointing to cancel games at times (as happened over the weekend), its crucial they adhere to the policy for the safety of players and officials.
They say that wellbeing is more important than cancelled matches.
