Riverland Police have been busy over the long weekend with numerous drivers breaking the road rules.

About 6.20pm on Monday 6 October, a 50-year-old man from Aldgate was stopped by police in Loxton for a random driver test. He returned a positive test for methamphetamine and was issued a driver direction notice and three-month immediate loss of licence notice. It is expected he will be issued with an expiation notice after his drug test has been forensically analysed.

Just before 6.30pm on Saturday 4 October, a 55-year-old man from Berri was stopped on Pike Road, Barmera. He returned a positive test for methamphetamine and was issued a driver direction notice and three-month immediate loss of licence notice. About 2.47pm on Friday 3 October, a 23-year-old man from Berri was stopped on Barwell Avenue, Barmera. He underwent a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.08. He was issued a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

And about 11.53pm on Friday 3 October, a 24-year-old man from Berri was stopped Vivian Cock Street, Berri. Subsequent checks showed the driver was unlicenced. He was arrested and charged with driving unlicenced and bailed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on 17 November.
