Mildura Rural City Council says the Road Management Plan sets out the maintenance schedule for municipal roads, including the system used to inspect, maintain and repair public roads.
Through careful analysis of maintenance costs and safety considerations, council is also proposing changes to their Road Register as part of this review.
This may include a change of classification which will alter inspection and maintenance schedules, the removal of some roads from the Road Register as they have been deemed to be no longer reasonably required for public use, and the land occupied by roads proposed for removal from the register will remain as they are, and are not being proposed for sale to adjoining landholders at this time.
By assessing service levels, Council says they can focus maintenance efforts on roads that matter most while ensuring others remain safe and functional for their intended purposes.
