Mildura is one of the top places in Victoria for locals to take up the Container Deposit Scheme.
Figures show more than 25 million containers have been returned to the Exchange Depot, with locals cashing in to the tune of more than two and a half million dollars.
VicReturn says the scheme doesn’t formally endorse people going through other people’s bins, encouraging local etiquette where residents can leave cans and bottles in a box on the street for others to collect.
