A local MP is calling on the Victorian Government to ensure there’s funding for a Royal Flying Doctor Service program beyond June.
Member for Mildura Jade Benham says the community transport program helps people aged over 65, providing transport between home and healthcare services, ensuring they get to appointments.
She wants the Health Minister to allocate two million dollars in funding to keep the program running in ten regional communities, including Robinvale.
“The RFDS Community Transport program is not just about getting people to medical appointments—it provides independence, dignity, and social connection for our elderly residents. The dedicated volunteer drivers benefit just as much as the patients do.”
She says the benefits for regional Victorians outweigh the cost.
