Mildura Rural City Council is partnering with Australian company EcoBatt to help locals recycle unwanted batteries safely.
Large household and power tool battery collections will be located at Mildura Landfill and Ouyen Landfill/Transfer Station.
Smaller household collections will be located at Council’s Madden Service Centre, Deakin Service Centre, Ouyen Service Centre, Red Cliffs Library, Merbein Library and Murrayville Library.
Eligible items for the smaller collection points include: AA batteries, AAA batteries, Button Batteries, 9V batteries, C & D size batteries, Lithium-Ion batteries (up to 5kg) and small power tool batteries.
All battery terminals must be taped before disposal to reduce the risk of accidental fires.
Council is asking locals to please inform staff if batteries are damaged or swollen.
