2026 Australia Day Award nominations closing soon

The nomination period to allow outstanding members of our community to be nominated for the 2026 Australia Day Awards is closing soon.

These awards recognise the achievements of individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to the Mildura Rural City Council and Wentworth Shire Council areas, and provide an opportunity to reflect, respect, and celebrate the people who make our community a better place.

Nominations close Friday 31 October 2025 form Mildura and Wentworth.

Wenworth Shire Council awards will be presented in six categories:

Citizen of the Year (18 years of age or over on 26 January 2026)

Young Citizen of the Year (Under 18 years of age on 26 January 2026)

Environmental Award (Individuals or groups)

Sportsperson of the Year (18 years of age or over on 26 January 2026)

Young Sportsperson of the Year (Under 18 years of age on 26 January 2026)

Organisation of the Year (Community Groups/Sporting Groups)

Community Project or Event of the Year

Complete an online nomination form at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/awards

Nominations close for Swan Hill Rural City Council on Thursday November 20, and for Balranald Shire Council on Friday November 28.
