Volunteer firefighters are headed back to the steps of parliament in response to the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund.
CFA volunteers are expected to ramp up their protests today as the state hands down its budget.
The levy has been widely rejected across the region, with firefighters, farmers, councils and politicians all calling for the tax to be scrapped before it was passed last week, in a move member for Mildura Jade Benham labelled as a dirty deal.
It has led to protests across the state, including crews walking off the job and reports of uniforms being burned.
Locals are expected to join in protests in Melbourne and across the region today in response.
